Lexus Builds One-Off LS for 100-Year-Old Customer
Longtime customer gets truly special gift after hitting major milestone.
For most of us, living to the age of 100 is nothing more than a pipe dream. Even with average life expectancy rising by the year. And for those of us who do reach that milestone, driving a car is probably not in the cards. But while the government might have to forceably pry the keys out of our hands, there’s at least one 100 year-old still motoring around happily. And he’s doing it in a one-of-one “Centenary Celebration Edition” LS 600h L.
Gloucestershire Live was there when English resident Barry High rolled into his local dealership to pick up what is estimated to be the 26th Lexus he’s ever owned. That kind of brand loyalty and the celebration of a milestone calls for a special celebration, and Lexus UK delivered. When the automaker’s British arm found out, they whipped up his one-off ride as a surprise.
The metallic silver LS features a special Centenary Celebration Edition numbered badge, pinstriping, chrome badges, and “100” script on the doors. But the former WWII Major won’t be actually driving himself around in the special ride – he has a chauffeur for that. Regardless, High got the royal treatment when he went to pick up his latest Lexus.
“The day went very well indeed,” said Dean Cordell, Lexus senior sales executive. “The car was all under wraps and undercover when he arrived. There was a formal celebration and a toast of champagne – he was extremely pleased.”
The whole thing is extremely cool, and extremely British. Now we can only hope to live to 100 so we can also get our own one-off Lexus.
