Watch Every Current Lexus Performance Car Battle On Track

By -

Pro racers Randy Pobst and Justin Bell battle head-to-head in the fastest cars Lexus makes.

Last year Motor Trend started a new show called The Racing Line with professional hot-shoe Randy Pobst. The show was all about teaching proper techniques for racing and car control. This year, for Season 2, they are changing things up and actually going racing. For the first episode, Pobst is going to challenge a second driver at three different tracks using three different cars. It just so happens that all three cars are Lexus machines, and they are all V8 powered.

Pobst’s challenger isn’t just some amateur racer either. He’ll be facing off against Justin Bell, a man who has four podiums and one class win at Le Mans.

So, we have two top-level drivers, three great race tracks, and six sexy Lexus performance cars. The perfect ingredients for a whole lotta fun. The first race is GS Fs at Road America. The second Race is RC Fs at New Jersey Motorsports Park, and the final race pits two Lexus LC 500s against each other at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Now, this isn’t just a silly video about going fast, this is still a show about teaching the art of racecraft. With each race, we get a look at how the two drivers interacted on track and why. It covers blocking, picking lines, overtaking and focusing on hitting your apexes. It’s a fantastic way to combine the lessons and techniques from the first season into a way that makes sense in the real world. It’s the most natural progression from “racing moves” into actual racing, and we think it works well. The dialogue between the two can feel a little forced at times, but overall it’s a good watch.

We can’t wait for the next one.
