fitment question for 2nd Gen GS?
I have a 2001 GS 430 and am thinking about buying a set of used staggered wheels with a 18x7.5 +50 and 18x9 +42 fitment. The wheels come with 225/40R18 and 245/35R18 tires as well.
My currently has the factory 17x8" +50 wheels with 235/45R17 tires.
It looks like the tires will be about .3-.5" smaller diameter wise but that is doable.
However, what worries me is the offsets of the new wheels. The front wheels seem fine since they are only going from 8" +50 to 7.5" +50 but I am unsure about the rears going from 8" +50 to 9" +42.
According to the offset calculator I found, the rear wheels will be having about 5mm less clearance inside than before. Does that mean I will need to install a 5mm spacer to have a good fitment?

Those wheels will fit fine. The front will actually sink in more than the stock wheels, I wouldn't use them. At least use an 18x8. You will induce under steer due to using a smaller width rim/tire. The rears will fit fine. In fact, I would use the rear rim on the front, and get a wider rim in the back.

Ouch, so it sounds like the fronts are the deal killer then?
The wheels are actually a sweet looking set of gunmetal 18" Volk gt-c's that one of my friend's friends is selling for only $1500 and it comes with a 90% tread Toyo T1Rs as well. So just using the rears and then buying a another pair of wider 18" volk gt-c's and new tires for another $1500 makes it a bit out of my budget.
