Cool 19" Wheels and tires.

I'm having a difficult time deciding on which tires for my new MAYA DTM 19" wheels. Is anyone using Pirelli P-zero Nero M&S or TOYO Proxes4? I commute a minimum of 70 miles per day. HELP!!! By the way my car is a 2001 GS430 Millineum Silver, lSportline rear end, TTE front lip, lSportline side skirts (This is my first thread)

i would stay away from pzero nero b/c they don't last long and they have very crappy steering response...driving 70+miles a day i would go for a more economy tire like the toyo fz4 they have 300 treadwear and last more than 20000+ miles...if you get a AA traction tire like 280 treadwear with the toyo t1S, the rubber compound is much softer and wears quicker about 10-15000 miles...the yokohama avs is great AA traction 180 treadwear but is a harder rubber compound that lasts longer than the toyo t1s...downside is that avs is a loud high performance tire at low speed but has better wet traction and much better wear...t1s is an overrated tire because the resistance to hydroplaning isn't great at all; yokohama is much better...another tire that is good is the dunlop sp9000 too, they have good wear/traction/& 280 treadwear...remember if you want an economy tire don't get nitto 555's if you like to drive spirited...they suck in the rain and very crappy dry traction too (sorry to nitto 555 owners but they do)...Shyne

p.s. there are new high performance tires offered for 2005 but are not out yet...my rim guy tells me dunlop has new rubbers coming out and toyo as well as yokohama...he tells me the tread designs are so sweet looking b/c he saw a lot of them at SEMA...others are coming out too so you might want to wait...

Goodyear GS-D3s ride and look nice. I only have900 miles on them though, so I don't know about treadwear yet.

On my stock 16s

had the goodyears f1 gs d3 exceptional tire for perf , cannot break loose in the wet and almost no noise only problem is my rears wore out after about 8k miles while the fronts had about 60% tread left so i went with the dunlap sp9000 mainly for comfort and to get a 285/30 for the rears so front and back would be same overall dia..

after 500 miles i am quite pleased with the dunlaps , in the wet they are equal to the goodyears , comfort wise they are much more forgiving and turnin repsonse has not suffered much but i really like them and the look the 285 give and heres the best part , hook up with da man brandon from the tire rack and you can get all 4 deliver for well under a 1g

I have bad experience with P-zeros. The tires start separating on all 4 wheels within 10,000 miles of driving to the point and I can begin to see the metal linings below it.

I switched to the Proxes, but it gives droning noise on low speeds on flat surfaces (most highways).

My Michelin Sportcontact has been nothing but perfect so far.....(well on my old wheels that is).

Now I am back to the T1S hehehe....

i have no idea what the problem is with the pzero nero. i have them on my hre 20s and they have served me awesome so far. i don't see any excessive wear too, i think it's almost 10k mles and it's still showing even wear and a lot of tread left. hehe, i guess you guys drive too hard i love the nero coz' it's very soft and very comfortable. the steering isn't as responsive coz' it has softer sidewall, that's why the softer ride anyway

and personally, next tires i have they are very likely to be the toyo t1s :0

Default toyo definately

i sale rims and tires and have had far better customer satisfaction with toyo and nitto..............dunlop sucks, and i had the avs sport before and hated them, the roar will run u out of the car to the point u dont even enjoy driving the gs..................the t1s i have personally and love them,,,,,,,,,,would never buy another tire as long as i have access to toyo............the toyos are awesome, and the new proxes 4 is definatly a customer pleaser...........nitto are good too. as nitto and toyo are the same company..................if u want your moneys worth buy the toyos............i highly recommend them

the dunlaps sp9000 to me and bit and quite afew others have gotten outstanding scores.. i drive very very agressively , as you can see by my list of susp mods my car is set up for pure business, the dunlaps grip very well , turn in response just a tad slower then the goodyears but the ride so well and are quiet..

Fantastic response from all of you guys. Based on the information you provided I will most likely will go with the TOYO Proxes 4 tires. It's great to be able to get such good advice based on your experiences. Thanks to all. I will post pictures soon. GS4's the only way to travel!
