shaving the caliper for clearance
I bought some new 20s for my 2001 LS430. I love the wheels but the spokes on the front wheels just barely scrape the brake caliper by a couple mm. I put some 1/8" spacers on for now to clear the caliper, but I would really like to get rid of the spacers - with the change in proper offset I can feel a little kick back in the steering wheel during turns and theres a lot more tire noise in turns.
Has anyone ever shaved a little thickness of the outside surface of the caliper to gain a couple mm of space? I was wondering if the thickness of the metal would allow for a little grinding on the outside of it. The last thing I want to do is take off a couple mm and end up going too deep and making a hole in the caliper or screwing somehting up. I know this sounds like a complete hack job, but I relly love the look of the wheels, they're Kaotic CEOs.
