Will this width and offset fit ? pls help
OK im back at it, tryin to get rims for my truck.
I have a 2002 RX300 all wheel drive. will a 22x9.5 rim fit with a 40MM offset or even a 35MM offset?
Im pretty sure theres plenty of clearance for 22", but im concerned with the width. then my next question would be what size tire? 255/30/22 or is it a 255/35/22?

Hey 'Sprinkles:
While I haven't actually measured an RX330 yet, my gut tells me this won't work.
On the old RX300, we had to use (for example) an 18x9 +25 (255/55-18) to clear the rear strut tube. If the new RX is similar to this, the 22x9.5 +40 will not physically even go on the rear- the strut will be in the way.
I'll check around to see if anybody in Orange County, CA has an RX330 I can measure... so far, we haven't had any requests for this application, so it has not been a priority (however, I did get to measure a Rolls Royce Phantom, Lamborghini Diablo GT, and Lamborghini Gallardo last week- not bad company!).

whoa whoa, wait.... so are you telling me this rim will fit as long as i use a spacer in the rear?
also i contacted lexus service/parts department and they brought up a good point. whatever i put on my truck, it should be the same height as the stock tire BC of the wheel sensors and the navigation!
so now i gotta do more research and check what the height of a 22" tire will be.
plus this weekend i think im gonna make a 22x9.5 with 34mm offset rim out of wood and make a template to see if it will mount to the wheel hub.

heres a pic of the rim im thinkin about. yea i know its a spinner which mostly everyone on this club hates. but.... i love the black and chrome look esp for my black rx. also it comes with the black center cap. so when i get tired of the spinner, i can have just a normal black rim with a chrome lip.

If I recall correctly, 'back in 'he day,' we tested an 18x8.5 +38 wheel and it didn't clear the rear strut.
18x8.5 +38 is:
6.25" backspacing
3.25" frontspacing
We finally opted to use 18x8.5 +25, which is:
5.73" backspacing
3.77" frontspacing
Your 22x9.5 +34 is
6.59" backspacing
3.91" frontspacing
You really can have no more than about 5.8" backspacing for the rear wheels to clear the strut tube.
On a 9.5" wide wheel, this would be:
22x9.5 +13.7
5.79" backspacing
4.71" frontspacing
To get here from 22x9.5 +34, you'll need a .86" (about 22mm) thick spacer/adapter for the rear wheels.
This will undoubtedly result in a very "aggressive" fitment (it will stick out past the fender). In fact, on the RX300, an 18x8.5 +25 with a 255/55-18 tire is already aggressive!
According to my handy Yokohama Fitment Guide, the RX originally came with:
225/70-16 = 28.4" diameter
Here are tire suggestions for the wheel fitments I referenced above:
255/55-18 = 29.04" diameter
265/30-22 = 28.26" diameter (about as perfect as you can get).
I hope this all works out... I would say this will be challenging, at best!

Good idea on the template!
The 265/30-22 is available in a Pirelli P-Zero Nero. This is a car-oriented tire, but I suspect you won't be off-roading on your 22s
Henry (rominl) has them on his GS (in 20"), he likes 'em!

ok i made the template wheel out of wood today with the correct offset and width etc. so now all i have to do is take off the rear wheel and place my template up against the studs and see how the strut hits.
sounds simple but not in 30 degree cold weather
