Installing Supra rear brakes on SC400
I just installed Supra brakes front and rear on my SC400. What a difference! I used all new Toyota Supra TT parts which I ordered online for $1100. This did both front and rear calipers, pads, front backing plates and hardware. The Supra TT cadmium plated, drilled and slotted rotors cost me $200 for all 4 rotors. I also ordered Goodridge stainless brake lines for a Supra. This is the best bang for the buck I can imagine.
The brakes stop the car NOW from any speed. They are well balanced front and rear. The antilock brakes still work perfectly.
The rear backing plate needs to be trimmed:
Here is the picture of the rear brakes complete with Goodridge Stainless brakelines (necessary because the Supra calipers require longer brake lines.)

Here are pictures of the front install
The front backing plate needs to be cut off to avoid removing the front spindles. The new Supra backing plate also needs to be slotted to install it.
Here is a picture of the completed front installation (rear view):

For the front brake install, I used the excellent instructions posted here:
http://planetsoarer.com/suprabrakesI...akeUpgrade.htm
Just scroll down about halfway and you will see a picture of the slot cut in the original backing plate. The replacement must be slotted the same (to avoid removing the front spindles).
For the rear brakes, I used a dremel tool and a cutting disk. I set the depth at 3/4" (19mm for you metric folks) and used the original lip to guide the cut. Only about 1/2 the circumference of the lip needs to be cut - the bottom part of the backing plate clears the rotors as-is. The mounting area for the calipers also needs to be enlarged just a bit. You can see how much needs to be cut by holding the new calipers in position and marking the cut.

I did all of the labor myself, so that part was free (if I consider my labor worth nothing). It was actually quite easy, the most time consuming part was cutting the backing plates. Everything else bolted right on and fit perfect.
I put 18X8 Volk Racing GTU rims front and rear with new Continental Contiextremecontact tires (245/40 - 18). The rims, tires, centering rings, and center caps cost me $2575 shipped to Washington state. This is about twice what the brakes cost.

That looks VERY nice!!!
I don't suppose you want to give out this magical "online" place you got them do you?
so I am guessing it was a significant difference compared to the stockers? Did it make any change in pedal feel or anything like that? I know that sometimes upgrading to huge brakes can make your pedal a little bit mushy.

Tony400 - the color is diamond pearl. It is a '99 SC400 color.
240_keyy - I will PM you the vendor I bought my parts from. I don't know if they are a Clublexus approved vendor. Anyone else wanting to know, PM me.
The pedal feel is fantastic - very strong, and yet very progressive. There is no sponginess at all. I thought I might have to buy the Supra master cylinder, but after driving my car - I think it is unnecessary. I thought that going from 6 pistons front and rear to 12 might pose a problem, but the SC400 master cylinder works just fine.
Neo - Thanks for the compliment. I am very pleased with the result. The difference in the handling and braking is amazing. I will probably drop it when the weather warms up (Yeah - I know, I'm a wimp when it comes to working in freezing cold weather.)
Here is a picture of the front wheel. I am not wild about the red pinstripe, I will probably remove it eventually:

Awesome wheel and brake choice! I'm a bit biased though

Just a note on the wheels, you can remove that red pin strip pretty easily, just may have to use a little goof-off to remove any stubborn adhesive. Here is what they look like without
Just curious what size are the wheels (edit: oops, just noticed you posted the sizes)
Great work !!!!! Car looks beautiful.
