ATTN:AWD Owners - Dropped AWD F-Sport how it should come from the factory
Hey all,
There has been plenty of threads about dropping AWD and perceived issues around it. I'll say I've been rolling around for the last 2 days without ANY vibration. I'd say whatever drivetrain changes done on the 4th Gen GS drivetrain is lowering friendly. This supports the other thread where another AWD owner dropped with Tanabe Springs.
Via the RSR group buy I purchased the RSR AWD coilovers.
Here they are in a box:
Here they are out of the box:
Installing the fronts are fairly easy. You need to pop the steering and upper control arm knuckles. You then need to remove the folk bolt with a 19mm. After removing the 3 top bolts then you will be able to remove the stock stock out. I apologize for the lack of pictures, just too anxious to get them in.
Shock is gone!
RSR shock in!
With the rears I didn't have any experience with this setup because the spring is on a separate perch than where the shock mounts. My mechanic buddy showed up and got all the stock parts out real quick. Its just like as stated with jscgs350 thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...-your-own.html. Remove the stabilizer bolt, the shock bolt and also the outer most bolt. In addition we had to loosen up the inner most bolt that connects the lower control arm to the frame so we could take the stock spring out. Other than that it wasn't too hard at all. Just make sure you pre-load the suspension before you tie everything back up. Sorry no pics here.
Here are some various shots of how the car looks now.
AWD FTW:
So you guys/gals with AWD dont hesitate anymore and purchase whatever spring/coilover you want to use. I'll roll like this for 2 weeks then get an aligment and then put my new shoes on

I estimate the drop is about 1.5 inches across the board. At first I was scared that it was too low but after driving it there isn't a need to. Once I get an alignment I'll check the camber numbers to make sure I don't go through a full set of tires in 4 months.
Thanks Mike - I didn't get any 5HP stickers but oh well..
Thanks!

If you installed these coilovers you can still use Sport +, it just won't change the shocks, but you won't need to after you tune/adjust your coilovers.

Hows the ride quality? I love how smooth the ride is, trying to figure out if it's worth giving up a little of that for a better look.
Who coordinated the group buy? I assume all of them are spoken for
Thank you for the detailed write-up
