Default AFS light came on with coilovers! She's ok now

I dropped the car on tein cst coilovers a week ago. The car has been absolutely fine since the install. Today I got in the car to run some errands and when I looked down at the dash as I was pulling out I saw the" AFS off" light was flashing on the dash. I called the shop and told them what happeened and they told me to bring it in. I decided to try to turn the car off and restart the car. BOOM it worked the light went off and has stayed off . I called the shop to cancel my emergency appointment and the shop owner said that with the AFS the system may be able to recalibrate itself . I was wondering if anyone with a drop on their GS has seen that happen. AFS on the restart and it disappears

I've never had that problem with my Tein CS-T install. I've had them on my car for about 8 months now.

it came on and went off when I restarted the car. I dont know if this has anything to do with it , but the lexus dealership recently adjusted my headlight higher for me. who knows. all I care about is that its not there anymore. I think I might be closer to that critical threshold for the system bec I am using a 245/30 and 275/30 with the drop flush front and rear. this means that the car is slightly tilited downward in the front because the sidewall on the 245/30 is smaller than the 275/30. with your set up you are using a 245/35 and 285/30 . Thats much closer in diameter. I didnt want to go that thick , or have to deal with fender mods and potential rubbing.

Tire height doesn't really matter when the coils are height adjustable.

youre right. I just might have to raise the front of the car up a little or tuck the rear to get the perfectly level height front and rear

if the light goes back on, there is an adjustment you can do to get the AFS to function in its new range, kinda like a leveler.

Light came on again today . I stopped the car, turned it off, and restarted the car and it goes away. weird . I am taking her in on monday to have the front raised .4" and the rear lowered about .4 as well ( I have a .85 difference in front and rear drop.). I was going to just tuck the rear, but I am seeing some pretty solid camber in the front tires since the car has settled. The tech at a local car wash was driving my car and when I was watching the car I noticed you could even see the front camber problem worse when you see the car is turning. No matter what I do I need to balance her height. If the tech says he can get rid of some of the front camber with an alignment I will just lower the rear, but if I cant adjust camber in the front enough I will raise the front and drop the rear. I just dont want to see the lights flashing on the dash

18ABMR, let get this straight: the AFS light came on because you haven't adjusted the coilover height? Does that make sense?

is this something that can't be fixed by adjusting the leveling sensor? it's weird how it comes back on & off..

The current forum theory is that it happens from uneven drops with springs or coilovers The car is lowered more in the front than in the rear to compensate for a smaller sidewall on the front tires. I wanted an even drop front and rear in appearance. So the car thinks it driving tilted. I called my service rep and he thinks it may be a bad sensor and will replace it. He says that the light shouldnt come on no matter how you lower the car. Bottom line is my service guy will take care of it, even if I bring him the printout of the fix that has been posted. I just think its weird that it goes on and goes off. The guy at the tuner shop thinks that when the system goes off, it recalibrate it self at reatrt. Who knows

Well let us know how the repair goes, and if it indeed fixes it. Thx
