Default Brakes........on fire!

08 IS250 AWD.

Like any other simple brake job. I went to autozone, purchased their "premium pads" and whatever rotors they had in stock. This is for the rear.

Removed the old pads, rotors, pushed piston back. Didn't seem seized as it went just fine by hand + the use of a C-clamp.

I put the rotor on the car along with the caliper and it seemed like a tight squeeze to slip in the brake pads. Did some wiggling around and got them in. Looked real snug.

Started the car, pumped the brakes, and drove about 3 miles. As I was driving I could smell something was burning and the car felt really slugish as if something was holding it back. It would stop from a deceleration almost completely without using the brakes.

Pulled over, got out, and the calipers were in flames, rotors were bright red. Thankfully, I had some water in the car.

Has anyone ever witnessed something like this? Or buying autozone parts not fitting properly? Any input?

This happend to me once but it was on a different car however as we know most 1 piston calipers have the same function so I have a feeling you need a new caliper because the piston on the caliper locked up.

It isn't the piston that seizes, it is the slide pin. Remove the pads and see if you can slide the caliper in and out. If not, that may be your problem. You can remove the top bolt on the caliper, not the one that mounts the caliper to the car, and see if you can wiggle it either front/back or in/out. If seized, then neither will likely happen. If you can get some wiggleage, then you can try to repair it if it is in rough shape, or choose to replace it. If it slides in and out (should be 14+mm, if I recall), then your issue is something else.
