Never installed them but like Gville said the holes are chamfered/beveled to reduce pad abrasion. Which makes sense because most cross drilled rotors I have seen form micro fractures around the holes over time from consistent abuse. The chamfer is providing a stress relief in the rotor. The good thing is I bet these holes are "designed" in precisely in the right place between the internal cooling vents for structural integrity, and not simply drilled out after they are cast in improper locations. Either way they are guaranteed by Hawk. So I am sure they have done extensive R&D for all variations of the rotors. I'd go ahead and do it, if it were me.

My genuine Brembo rotors I had on my Mitsu 10+ yrs ago had the same cross-drilled design; and even after a few auto-x events, they never started cracking.
But just throwing this out there; if just doing street-duty, stick with blanks. The slots and cross-drilling only starts being important when actual track time is introduced.
