Default Found this today.....

So was out driving to the store yesterday and the car felt a lil odd. I had just taking off the front wheels for a bit of cleaning just before I left. Noticed a squeaking (in sync with mph) and a very light clunking (all feeling in brake pedal) when braking. Didn't have time to look around so I parked her at home.
Took a look around the front, took off the wheels and couldn't find anything that related to the problem as I figured it was something from yesterday. Then took a look at the back and noticed this on the pass rear....

Pretty sure I'm just asking the devil to slay me driving like that. Not sure if its the sound and feeling I'm getting while driving yesterday, but what a **** off...one week before the toyota/lexus/scion meet =/

Kinda annoying trying to find local discs for rears as well. I do wonder if I should stick with sc3 rear calipers or change those for a bigger size as one might be seized now....still need ls400 fronts.
grrrr

What a bummer...Sucks that the rotor cracked!

Just upgrade to Supra TT rear calipers and rotors.

Glad you found it before anything potentially catastrophic happened! You're certainly not the first person to crack a drilled/slotted rotor.

This is why I stick with good quality blanks. Seen way to many drilled rotors crack.

This is the main reason why i didint get drilles & slotted. I got slotted so i had peace of mind. Old man tan is right, DBA makes legit stuff.

Indeed gents, this is first experience with drilled n slotted. Not encouraging...but they came from the PO so who knows what brand they are or quality. I'll be happy with good olé vented discs.
I think I'll be going with the sc4 rears, lil bigger.
I personally doubt I will ever need drill/slotted/ceramic brakes. Unless I start going to open track day, then I may have to upgrade.

Slotted = OK. Drilled = never.

The exact reason why I tell people to go with cheap Centric blanks instead of any drilled/slotted rotors. Unless it's a high end brand that casts the surface into the rotor, drilled and slotted are a bad idea with virtually ZERO performance benefit for 99.9% of drivers.

Nice find and they look like they're in good shape. What did the calipers set you back?

Like INTIMAZY, I love Centric brake products. Really good quality at a very affordable price. I've used their products on at least 10 different cars and have had no issues with any of them. I'd recommend the premium line rotors and the posi-quiet ceramic pads (no noise and loooooow dust) for a daily driver. Can probably get the full setup for front and rear for ~$300 shipped to your door.

I think the calipers took more of a toll on my back than anything, but on paid 64 for all four of them. Best price I could find for a new ls400 rear caliper was 68....for one.....plus a core.
really saved me some cash as I was not prepared for this upgrade....well, problem that I'm turning in a upgrade.
picked up pad n rotors(blanks woot) last night, gotta run to the autozone hub n get some hardware kits (missing one damn clip on the front and one on the rear gahhhh....). Then spend the day destroying my back to get these sucker on.

Confused....
Put on the ls400 rear calipers with a sc400 rear rotor....the damn caliper bracket is to short and won't bolt up. Kinda sucks, I gotta hunt down 291mm rotors again....can't be found in town (cept maybe brakes plus or something).

Edit:
Derp.... think I need sc400/supra na bracket for rear. Ls400 and sc300 are just to small. I had thought the ls would work but it's a smaller bracket than my sc3. Was able to use my old brackets with the ls calipers, but I did have to hunt down some smaller rear rotors. Braking feels much better now with the bigger fronts, would of looked nicer with bigger rears.
it works, all that matters. Must have brakes heh.

anybody rolling ls front calipers with supra tt rear calipers?
