put the wheel back, bolt on just enough to hold wheel in place, pull the wheel out or give it a few kicks
that trick really work

Have you done it before? Im just afraid of messing up the hub, which is a $260 part, to replace a $25 dust shield?

just cut that thing off it does next to nothing anyway. i tried to take the hub off as well and its pressed on there from the factory. I completely cut mine off with a grinder, just to make sure you dont cut to deep and cut the hub carrier. good luck

Just bend the shield till there is no more griding, I recently installed my old 350 set up on a friends car and i did it that way without any issues.

Thanks guy for all the help. Turned out the noise was a combination of untrimmed dust shields and a seized rear caliper. I did try to install the new dust shield but the wheel trick didnt work, so i gave up.
