Tein Ha upper pillow ball mounts
I know that here have been many questions asked about the Tein HA coilovers and many of them have been answered but one. I have searched through the archives and have been unable to find a related thread so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I need to know about the Tein HA "upper pillow ball mounts" what is their function? Are the upper pillowball mounts necessary...unnecessary....an absolute must....recommended.... for the GS400?
Does anybody with Tein Ha have the "upper pillowball mounts?"
Thanks

The upper pillow ball mounts are how some coilovers connect to the shock tower mounts. Think of it as kind of a ball and socket arrangement like your shoulder socket. It allows the coilover to rotate freely. These are used to compensate for extreme lowering situations to prevent binding of the suspension under load.
So, the bottom line is that if you are installing coilovers just to have some adjustability, they are not absolutely necessary, but certainly are a plus. If you plan on really lowering your GS, then they are quite necessary. Additionally, some pillow ball mounts have camber plates built into them, the is a real bonus when trying to align the the wheels after the car has been lowered. Keep in mind that suspension geometry changes each time you change the height of the vehicle, so unless you keep the height changes relatively small, you'll probably have to get the car aligned when you change it.
Hope this makes sense.
