Default Need new Brake Pads

Hello,

I am approaching needing new brake pads on my 98 GS400. I bought the car used and now 30K miles later getting close to having to replace them.

The car is a daily driver (street) and will not see any track time. I assume everything is OEM but not sure. I think the brakes are fantastic minus the dust so I am looking for recommendations on replacement pads as good or better that stock but with less dust if possible. I do not want to turn the rotors as the thinner they are the more likley to warp.

What knd of brake pad material was OEM on the 98 GS400 - Semi Metallic or Ceramic? The dealer doesn't know and various auto parts stores have given me different answers. If I pull my old pads off, can I tell what kind of material it is?

Are cermics like Axxis and Akenbono ceramics so much better than Bendix Semi Metallic?

Is it OK not to bleed the brakes - just slowley depress the pistons in with a C-Clamp? I don't want to screw up an ABS pump or sensor?

I don't want anything harsh or noisey . I want equal or better stopping power to OEM.

Thanks...

Neil
