Default Ceramic brake pads

I'm going to do a brake job this weekend on the 98. What are the advantages of ceramic brakes over other types? Do they last longer? We're not racers, so we don't need "performance" pads.

TIA

I run EBC redstuffs on my fronts they are a "kevlar/ceramic" mix. The advantages especially for our cars since there boats is that it bites and stays strong all the way through till the car stops. Where as organic, and semi-metallic pads depending on brand tend to bite in and then fade away.

the OEM pads are ceramic, no point in organics for this car.

if you just want good pads, there's nothing wrong with OEM, and you can get them cheap from l-tunedparts.

ceramic pads have low noise, low dust, easier on the rotors than metallic and they dont fade....

Thank you everyone for the information. It's apparent that there are several advantages to ceramics that don't include the word "Sebring"

ceramic pads tend to not gat as hot as semi metallic organics. And are generally quieter.

I put ceramic pads on my 91 lexus and it stops so much better that the organic pads I have noticed that you might have to turn the rotors once before you exchange the pads. I have had to turn the rotors once in 45k miles which I do my self just take them off and have a shop turn them cost $20.00 but since going to ceramic pads my old tank stops now it takes very little braking to do this, I also flush my brake fluid every 30k for good measures .
