I'm lookin at picking up some L-Tuned suspension parts for my GS and was wondering if anyone knows of a dealership in Texas that will do the installation (want to keep it covered by warranty)?

Thanks!

John Roberts Lexus of Austin installed the L-Tuned shocks, springs, and steering ECU for me for $375.

Thanks man.

Question though, who did you speak to up there? I called, and the person that I spoke with said that they don't do any aftermarket installs. I talked to someone up in Dallas at Park Place and they said they'd do it, but since I live in austin, I'd much prefer to have it done here. Any info would help. Thanks!

I just had them transfer me to the service dept--can't remember the guy's name--and he said "yeah, we'll install L-Tuned stuff...haven't done it before, but we'll do it." They did a GREAT job and charged LESS than their estimate! They did end up keeping the car overnight because they wanted more of their service guys to get a look at the install, but they gave me a loaner so no big thing...

As far as my happiness with the parts themselves, I'm elated! I'm ordering the muffler set and the grill very soon, I think, and again I'll have John Roberts install them. Personally I think Lexus should just make the L-Tuned steering ECU the default, but the suspension isn't for everyone. The statement I generally make is that if you would've bought the sport package on the 540i (assuming you were cross-shopping the 540i when you got your GS4x0), you'd want the L-Tuned suspension setup.

I'll be happy to let you drive my car before you order/install if you'd like to feel the difference. I know that I'd wished for a test drive before I took the leap.

Let me know...
Scott

Default Scott,

Install the TRD sway bars. I used to own a M3, so I know how bimmer handles. After the TRD sway bars installed, I now know the secrets of BMW handling - thicker sway bars + stiffer suspensions:eek:

Scott,

Thanks for the reply. That would be awesome if I could check it out first. I appreciate that. Shoot me an email and let me know when you're free:

richporst@hotmail.com

I'm thinking about doing the whole suspenion at once:
shocks, springs, ecu, chasis braces, sway bars.

Thanks
Rich

Rich,

Be aware that John Roberts will only install L-Tuned equipment, not TRD or other aftermarket. You'll need to go with someone else or install the non-L-Tuned stuff yourself.

Jacob,

Long time, no talk! Hope you're well and thanks for the tip. I'd actually pinged Steve on prices for the STB, sway bars, and rear chassis brace just yesterday, but I think for this next round (I do ~$1K/round if I don't want my wife to freak out) I'm going to a) stay with L-Tuned stuff; and b) do a little aural and visual mod, hence the exhaust and grill. I *might* do the STB also since it's a simple bolt-on, but I've been told that that sway bars aren't quite so simple. Is that correct?

Scott,

The TRD sway bars are direct bolt on and perfectly fit. You can do it yourself in about 45 mins. for both.

How about the chassis brace? Or does it even make enough of a difference to make it worth the while?

The TRD fron chassis brace is only $170 but I did not get it. The sway bars will make big difference to your suspension but the chassis brace will make very little difference unless you push your car to the limit.

How about the STB? Last time we spoke it seems like you had decided it didn't do much (at least relative to the sway bars, perhaps?). If I'm going to spend some %$$$, should I just get the L-Tuned exhuast, sway bars, and grill, leaving out the STB and chassis brace?

You'll feel the sway bars right after the installation but you won't notice the STB unless you open the hood
BTW, TRD STB will not fit GS430 unless you remove the engine cover.
