Annoying popups when visiting the forum on iPhone?
Been getting these crappy popup ads for the last few weeks when accessing this forum from my iPhone- doesn't happen all the time, but pretty often, and it seems with more consistency as of late. In order to avoid having to click OK, I have to clear all browser history and website data, which means losing all of my settings and login info. Below are some screenshots of a couple of the ads- many different URLs. happens both when I've been logged in and not. Anyone else?

I raised a similar question some time back, except for Android phones. The response that I got from site administration was that the pop ups only appear if you are not logged in and that, if you are logged into your account, they won't appear.
For me, if I am just reading posts and not planning to reply, I would prefer not to have to log in. So, my solution to not be annoyed by the pop ups has been just to not visit this site when I'm using the phone (or tablet). Thus, by having the site set up so that pop ups appear for those who are not logged in, it results in the site losing, I'm sure, a good number of hits because I'm confident that there are others who chose not to continue their visits to this site when they are annoyed by the pop ups.

mspearl95,
As others have mentioned try logging in and see if the popups stop.

Also for folks viewing on phones, please try the forum app Garage Talk if you are trying to do it through safari or native browser

not with these popups- they happen whether I'm logged in or not. Sporadically. I'm used to the old popups, for ford trucks and things like that, that you can close and continue to the forum, but these ones seem more malicious, and there is no way to close them without clicking OK, which redirects to an external website. Since I don't want to have to click on the OK button(who knows what kind of malware that leads to), I have to reset the browser in order to be able to make them go away, resulting in a loss of all saved settings/cookies//login info.

My apologies for the intrusive mobile pop-ups. They stem from the abuse of an iOS/Android feature that lets phone users automatically open a link using a certain type of format. Some rogue advertisers have figured out a way to mimic this link within their own ad code, redirecting to separate websites and then sending a number of alerts through that webpage. We're currently determining which ad partner in particular is to blame for the issue, and hope to have it resolved shortly.
Thank you!
Thank you!

A new kind of mobile ad pop up that you can't click out of without interacting with is now coming up on my iPhone- some stupid '3 free spins for a chance to win a free iPhone' garbage. I'll post a photo of it later.

Thanks for letting us know. Is it a pop-up on top of the forum or does it open a new window?

this is also issue with how navigation is set up with banner ads on the right hand side. that is the side useto scroll up and down on a mobile and one ends up clicking the ads. The worst one is ghe mobile tank game ad as it detects gesture and just passing your tumb over it without touching would result in a click through. i now use Opera with ad blocker. lose lose situation for the site and the offensive advertiser.
