Best upgrade shocks for 2008 SC430?
I'm looking for some input from someone who's running a smooth setup. I'm not wanting to lower it much if any below stock. Just want less roll cornering. Is it shocks or sway bar that's the best option?

Good question. I went Bilstein shocks all round on my "05 and they gave me sharper turn in. However, they weren't the *big* improvement I was looking for.
The SC 430 double wishbone suspension design is sophisticated but the spring rates, in particular, don't seem to match the design. 'Just my 2 cents. Other forum people such as Bacardi have switched to Swift springs

hi jperry004
I have the Bilstein front and rear. the rears must be cut 1 1/2" at Bilstein I use the Swift Springs to me the springs are the difference. Townsville use the HD no work done. I used Bilstein Sports from the 05 Gs 300, sent them to Bilstein had the fronts revalved for the 430sc the rears were cut 1 1/2" body and revalved for the 430sc with the Swift Springs very nice ride the springs will drop the car .8 front and .6 rear the Swift Springs are the thing. the Springs cost me 225.00 on ebay. the shocks are from eShocks.com again the Springs are difference.

...I went with the Bilstein HD's also, with no work done to them. I also switched my OEM springs out for Teins Sports & love the ride. My car is dropped about 1.5-2in. all the way around. The only drawback to a drop like mine is that the springs have to be stiff enough to keep the car from bottoming out,so on some big bumps, you can feel it in the rear.

After upgrading my suspension and lowering the SC430 the rear ends seems like it needs a little tightening. What are the best recommendation for sway bars and do they need additional bushings?

I would start with upgraded rear subframe bushes. The stock ones are soft and sloppy. They give way to much movement, and don't hold the suspension geometry. You put in a bigger bar and it will feel even looser. If after you switch out those bushes, then you might decide you do or don't want a bigger bar.

Most of the focus has been given to the front on sc430. When I said this I made a few assumptions. One that you had changed the rear control arm bushes. Two that you replaced the spring and dampers with something that matches one another. Either way the subframe bushes will settle rear end movement too. If the other two things aren't done then you'll still have more work ahead.

Tex, if you really feel ambitious, set up a camera so that you can document your work with pictures!
BTW, how did your front end damage issues come out? Did the other guy's insurance cover it?
