Quick Question re. Cover, luggage compartment trim, rear
I just purchased an RX8 spare wheel. Just to be sure, is the item noted in the title the hard floor board that covers the tool kit (and surrounds the spare tire) in the trunk of the SC430? I will, of course, order the item for non-RFT vehicles if so. Is there any reason (other than cosmetic) to also purchase a floor mat. Thanks for the help--and for any suggestions about keeping the tire in the trunk that are not prominent in the many posts addressing spare tires.

Here's a photo of the two different carpeted floor boards. One is for RF tires, the other for a trunk with the spare. I also included trunk photo without the floor covering the tools.

BTW I don't have the carpeted mat, just the carpeted floor board. However, the spare kit also comes with tire mounting hardware and rubber bumpers which holds the tire in place AND reduces rattles. It also comes with a new rear wall garnish piece, and tire cover. It's way over priced, but it sure does a nice job of fit and finish for now nearly worthless trunk. You can see a few more photos by following the link in my signature block.

The folks at Sewell will work with you on the kit if you don't need all of it. I bought my own spare tire also and they sold me a kit without the tire. The kit does look nice and it is a fairly easy install, just make sure that you have some panel removing tools so you are less likely to break some of the plastic pins.
