Default Painting rubber deflectors

Has anyone ever painted his/her rubber deflectors (the two pieces on the bottom of the bumper)?

I actually like to match their color to my front bumper (white). Does anyone know what kind of paint to use? I was thinking of just using white out but I don't know...

I've read somewhere that these deflectors are designed to channel wind away from the tires. Would it alter these deflectors' function by having them painted?

Thanks in advance!

the past owner had painted mine. they're pretty marked up from rock chips and road debris. i'm actually planning on getting some paint stripper and stripping them back to black.

I'm pretty sure you can't use just any paint on that type of material. I think you may be limited to a type of paint produced by only one company, and that's PPG. Same type of paint is used on bumpers, etc, or any plastic piece for that matter, that flex's.

I would advise against painting those as in the real world it will just easily get marked up by any item you may hit on the freeway, speed bumps, etc.

and I personally think it would look odd, its not attached to the bumper and it does not run along the whole underside. It will just look out of place.

Thanks again guys,

I am sure I'll never go wrong with the advices from this forum and fellow white SC430 owners.

My rubber deflectors are actually partially white (the previous owner must have re-painted the front bumper and in the process, got some paint on the deflectors). But it's all good. There's nothing that a couple of black magic markers won't fix.
