new brakes rub at low pressure
I have seen this in the FAQ but no one had solved the mystery...
Had dealer do front brake job, new pads, finish rotors, but now when at low speeds, coming to gentle stop there is a rubbing sound every time the wheel rotates. Only at low speed, low brake pressure. thup thup ... thup ......thup...............thup as you come to a stop.

Ain't no thang
Dealer says this is a common thing and not an issue.
Due to pads moving around in the caliper a bit because pads are on the small side of their allocated size variance. Not to worry

service advisor said "it's not a perfect fit"
but the more I think about it, I want to demand they get pads that do fit enough to stop this noise. If I am paying $300 per axle for brake pads, they should be quiet, no?

Little confused. ALL Lexus brakes along with just about all 2 piece brake setups on every car out there makes some sort of noise, especially when going from backwards to going forward as the 2 pieces and pads settle for direction the car is headed. All 5 Lexus's I have had make this sound which is a tick, or small clank which gets louder the more the pads are wore as this allows for some more wiggle room. A great many posts exist here on this issue but it is generally considered normal though easy to rectify with some effort.
But not a rubbing sound. A rubbing sound from the front is not common and should be looked into further. So I suppose I ask, is it rubbing or more of a tink tink, tick, thump, etc. type sound you are experiencing. Two different sounds.

Seems to be a correlation to brake temperature.
Since I sometimes hear this noise at low speeds no brake pressure I thought it was a bearing.
But now I've noticed that after a hard stop or several stops without any cooldown I get a rubbing noise once per wheel rotation. No noise under high brake pressure, only under low or no pressure. Goes away once brakes cool. Pads are fine, plenty left on them. It is not a grinding noise like they are wearing out, but a rubbing noise that turns to a creeking noise as the car stops. Creeking like a metal building swaying in the wind.
Maybe the clips on the pads expand and rub the rotors when they get hot?
This is NOT the click due to reverse/forward switch of pads in the calipers.
