The ECU on my 92 sc400 is bad according to the dealer.

I purchased a used one and it is also bad.

Is rebuilding a good option?

Where is the best place to rebuild this unit?

Driftmotion rebuilds them. There are a couple guys on eBay, you can read the reviews to see who does a good job.

Rebuilding is pretty much the only option except for another used one that may need a rebuild.

I think Tannin Auto, a vendor here also does them. They have a great reputation. I would call him first.

I'm in the same boat, and I'm thinking the guy on ebay is the way to go. It seems like he does a little more then the others, and I'd rather send it in once and know everything is fixed. Read his ad, and his warranty transfers with sale of car, or sale of ecu. He doesn't just fix capacitors, he rebuilds the entire unit.

I read that as well Biddles. I'd take his warranty and "to do list" and call Jason Tannin with it for comparison as we know Jason's reputation here.

The ebay listing posted above is a joke. They don't do anything more than replace the capacitors. They are simply doing a play on words in the description.

The seller has 44 feedback, we have nearly 10,000

Send it to us for $89 instead of paying them $149. Who knows if they even use the proper capacitors.
