Spare Tire mod

To save on shipping go with FedEx ground. I would not use a box though, get a large piece of cardboard (just go behind a furniture store like Rooms to Go or Ashley and there is a ton of large cardboard donor boxes) Roll the tire a couple times like a burito and tuck the sides. Finish it off with a roll of packaging tape Keeping it as small as possible should keep you out of the oversized range. Print the lable from fedex.com and slap it on and drop it off. You don't even have to wait in line just walk to the fron and put it on the counter...
I have a personal UPS and FedEx account. It's a little easier for me to use UPS since there's a UPS store close by. Never any lines. I just drop it off and ask for a receipt which they provide at no charge and walk out.
My preferred shipper is FedEx. My experience is that they seem to be more careful handling breakable items. UPS doesn't seem to care about anything except making their drivers keep running.
I'm not concerned about this package as it's contents are pretty sturdy, not like the box of porcelain pieces UPS delivered that once was a new toilet.

RX-7 Spare Tire also works
Well I got my RX-7 wheel in Friday and slapped it on the Mamba and everything cleared just fine, tight but nothing touches. I even drove her up and down the driveway to tbe certain. It's now safely installed in the trunk!
If anyone is interested, this tire displaced a 07-14 Camry spare (from a 2009)
17X4 with a sizeT155/70D17 tire. I also installed this on the front of my SC430 to verify it fit also. This tire fits snugly upright in the trunck in the spare tire loction without any modifications. I have $75 in it that I'd like to get out if it. I'll even eat the shipping cost to a SouthEast buyer (I'm in AL) AS soon as I have enough posts to put it in the classified, I will...
cheers
