Question run flat tires

Hi all,

I currently have under 5000 mi. on the car and due to a "shimmy", I've had it both to the dealer and Discount Tire. They both tell me the wheels are totally balanced and that there are flat spots on the tires, and "it's just one of those things". Has anyone had a similar experience and do you think the dealer should be responsible for a pro-rated tire exchange? The tire dealer says the ride will improve with new (non run-flat) tires. I don't think I should have to foot the bill for brand new tires already when these only have 5000 mi. on them. Moreover, I'd be going from extra cost run flats to "regular" tires at my expense! Does anyone have any suggestions for me? The car rides, needless to say, poorly, and the issue is not with the car itself.

Thanks.

My dealer replaced at no charge my two front tires at 9,000 miles due to flat spots and cupping. They could only replace two, but the regional office gave me a $500.00 service credit at the dealership for the other two. I''m now debating on Yokohama DB's for replacement.
Any thoughts? I would have run flats on the front and the DB's on the back until the new run flats go bad again.

Unhappy follow-up

My dealer and the tire dealer, where I got my after market chromes from, put their heads together. Lexus claims after- market wheels are the cause for a bad ride due to the wheels not being hub-centric as Lexus wheels are. Rather, they are lug-centric. Lexus would take no responsibility for, nor due they think the flat spots on the run-flats are the culprit.

Long story short....I'm replacing the after market wheels with Lexus chromes. If this doesn't take care of my "shimmy", I'm not sure what I'll do.....

Does this make sense to anyone?

Default run-flat tire replacements

Has anyone replaced their run-flats with Bridgestone Potenza S-03s?

I have seen tire dealers "true up" tires by spinning them and shaving off rubber. Some dealers do this regularly on new tires as part of the balancing. Must take some tread life off, but wondering if this can be done to the run flats to reduce the flat spots.
