if you are to ever take out a cat . let me tell you from my experience what happens. its make it louder and it also gives it more air flow. tried that on my sc before i put a catback quest power spec-x exhaust. and also when i had taken out cat i had just installed flowmaster mufflers.

TopDown - do you have a vid/sound clip of your car? Did you take the resonantors out as well, or just muffler? Thus straight pipes after the cat?
Would love to compare how these all sound. Im planning on modifying my exhaust, however cannot decide which way to go without hearing all the options. I know on you tube, there is the black SC with the resonantors replaced by straight pipes and new exhaust tips; and a red sc with the Blitz exhaust. Any others? Thanks

I did not take out the resonators. The shop removed the central muffler and fabricated straight pipes after the resonators from where the stock muffler bolted. I reused my existing tips so it looks stock.
I liked this option because:
- I can go back to stock if I choose since all the changes are bolt on.
- It was cheaper than the other after market options (under $200)
- I figured if I did not like it I could always get one of the after market exhausts

okay just to clear up a couple of things...
it goes like this from front to back:
exhaust header manifold
catalytic conv one each set of 4 pipes left and right. then a collector of sorts
another catalytic converter split into 2 pipes again
glass packs on left and right
flanges attach behind glass packs
muffler is under trunk (quiets down car immensely)
then the tips
you can remove the muffler and it will sound nice and growly. add resonator tips and it will smooth out the tone.
this is what i did and it sounds very good in my opinion...nice throaty V8 rumble. does not have the "poppy" sound of the video clip listed earlier in this thread.
Cost 176$ for tips and installing the tubing and flanges...so i can put the stock back on if needed
