$200 coupon for dealer service
We recently purchased a 96 SC300 with 65k miles from a Lexus dealer (Lexus of Louisville - Swope). We received a $200 buyer loyalty coupon (good in service department) since we had purchased another car from the same dealer 2 years ago. It has a 30 day expiration date (which wasn't how the enticement was advertised). We don't have any service records for this car after 33k miles. If we assume we must use this coupon that soon, how would you choose to use the coupon? Other than this, we don't expect to be using the dealer for service, but rather a mechanic we know. The dealer just fixed the A/C, replaced trunk struts and changed the oil as part of our purchase. Everything appears to be working OK. Supposedly they do a safety inspection before putting the car up for sale, but I don't have a list of what they do.

Many dealers offer a full detail option. Although they cleaned it pretty good in and out prior to selling it, it could probably use a couple coats of good wax, polished wheels, interior, engine compartment, etc. I'm talking the service where they take Q-tips to clean out your interior vents, etc. They can get extremely detailed, and it normally isn't worth the money, but if you've got a coupon- it changes the ball game.
