I've been searching for this to no avail. Does anyone know what the four wires represent for the TRAC button that's part of the shift bezel? My car doesn't have traction control, but I have a spare bezel with the button and was thinking of using it as a toggle switch for the transmission solenoid bypass. I just need to figure out which wire is which for knowing what to tap into.

red
white w/ black stripe
green
green w/ white stripe

The two green wires are right next to the bulb, so I'm guessing at least one is its power source and the other is a common ground to the button? Red and white/black seem like typical power colors.

Well, it may be a moot point. I put a 7.5A fuse in the TRAC spot and checked the corresponding 4 pins on the plug the TRAC/heater buttons connect to under the bezel. I couldn't get a voltage reading on any of them with the key turned to On, and plugging the connector in, the bulb wouldn't light up in either position. (I took the bulb out and tested it directly, and it works.) I never trust myself to correctly decipher electrical stuff, but I'm guessing that means cars with traction control and the TRAC ECU have something in the circuitry beyond just the fuse to send power to the button?

So, if I were to still use the TRAC button as a toggle switch, it would have to be heavily modified from its current state, with one input and one output instead of the 4 uncertain wires. It doesn't really have distinct on/off positions, though, so can it even remember changes in state without a power source? All I need is it for to open a circuit when off (and light the bulb ideally, like it does when TRAC is turned off, but probably not easily doable without the TRAC ECU) and close the circuit when on.

If that's not doable, I suppose I can try using the shell of the button for building a regular toggle switch into. It won't have that seamless OEM look... The button comes apart easily, at least.

Also, with the button mostly disassembled, I can see where the wires go. Green and green/white are the +/- (or -/+) leads to the bulb. So, red and white/black are either power related or complete a circuit?

I suppose I have an alternative option, then. Tap the green and green/white into something like the cig. lighter and test for continuity (?) between the red and white/black with the button "in" or "out"? If that works, then I wouldn't have to worry about the TRAC wiring and fuse at all.

i would just disassemble it completely and built a regular toggle switch into it underneath it, simplest way to go

Yeah, that's the realization I'm gradually coming to. Simplest isn't my goal in this case, though. Still holding out hope that someone has disassembled that button previously and knows how it works.
