Why are 97+ cars so much better?

I disagree, OBD1 is awesome. Check engine light rarely comes on and I can check my codes with a paper clip :P
Older models are cheap and falling apart with age. Plastic, rubber, and even metal starts to crap out and you're left with a restoration project. You can pick your battle with an old model and save some money or just buy everything up front with a newer model.
Pretty sure I've spent thousands of dollars making this vehicle into a newer looking SC.

97+ because aero and tails. Honestly the kit goes for 1k plus add 500+ for paint and other body work that the car may need so thats 1500 you're adding on there, pre 97's still go for 2-4k while you can get a 97+ for around the same price so you might as well just look for a nice condition 97+

97 + models dont look quite as old. The OEM Aero and tail lights make the car seem much newer than it actually is. Even the earlier years dont look as old as they really are.
People are shocked when I tell them mine is a 92. These cars have a lot of features in them when toyota was at the pinnacle of engineering.
For a 20+ year old car that has telescoping steering wheel, heated seats, factory sound system w/sub, dimming mirrors, etc. The car was way ahead of its time.
