Why are 97+ cars so much better?

Why do people get all whoopty do about 97+ cars?

Dat chrome grill and chrome tail lights. *****es love shiny things

Kira X 10-29-13 06:08 AM

They look newer and they're usually in way better condition when I see them on the street.

daily400 10-29-13 06:45 AM

Obd2 plus a lot of the small issues previous models have, have already been fixed ie:clusters ect

Maserati 10-29-13 06:47 AM

Yeah, 97+ is dope, tail lights attract looks haha, But really you do see them in good condition. like my 99' people are stunned that its so old, and has better stuff than their car :D. The side skirts, new bumper is pretty catching to the eye and just flows better.

soaringlex 10-29-13 07:22 AM

Yeah it's all about the oem aero. The obdII is a downfall imo

Also, 97 was the tear that those 120 RARE SC's were made! Manual transmission. Also, 1998-2000 e production numbers went way down for the SC.

I disagree, OBD1 is awesome. Check engine light rarely comes on and I can check my codes with a paper clip :P

Older models are cheap and falling apart with age. Plastic, rubber, and even metal starts to crap out and you're left with a restoration project. You can pick your battle with an old model and save some money or just buy everything up front with a newer model.

Pretty sure I've spent thousands of dollars making this vehicle into a newer looking SC.

my 93 is almost perfect, its all up to the person who took care of it, not sure what your talking about it falling apart, ive seen new cars look like a pos,
the only problem i have with mine is the center ac vent is cracked.

97+ because aero and tails. Honestly the kit goes for 1k plus add 500+ for paint and other body work that the car may need so thats 1500 you're adding on there, pre 97's still go for 2-4k while you can get a 97+ for around the same price so you might as well just look for a nice condition 97+

bigwes 10-29-13 12:10 PM

the 97+ does look better. but they arent as boost friendly compared to the 92-96 models

Luxor 10-29-13 01:59 PM

Because they have the fancy alarm beep.

GS3Tek 10-29-13 03:45 PM

Zig zig shift gate vs. dildomatic:D

Although I do like the one in the legend:thumbup:

97 + models dont look quite as old. The OEM Aero and tail lights make the car seem much newer than it actually is. Even the earlier years dont look as old as they really are.

People are shocked when I tell them mine is a 92. These cars have a lot of features in them when toyota was at the pinnacle of engineering.

For a 20+ year old car that has telescoping steering wheel, heated seats, factory sound system w/sub, dimming mirrors, etc. The car was way ahead of its time.
