Dimensions for cabin air filter
Does anyone know the dimensions/measurements for the cabin air filter? i checked and my car never had one.. and i'm sure as hell not gonna fork over $60 to the dealer for a filter.
i'm just gonna cut one out from a regular house a/c filter from home depot.
i just need this because i dont have an original to copy, and what direction is it supposed to flow? towards the driver side or to the passenger?

I just had my A/C switched over to the new system(r134) and tried to get the in cabin a/c filter changed but the guy told me that the 1993 SC400's did not have a in cabin filter. Is this correct?

searchy searchy and don't be lazy

People always say "I searched but didn't find anything", and what that translates to is "I searched and didn't feel like reading through 10 threads so I started a new one to get a quick answer" which only adds to the number of already existing threads on a given subject.
In 5 seconds I keyed in 3 simple words (cabin air filter) and got a WEALTH of knowledge. It ain't that hard guys

But seriously, I got a gang of info when I entered those key words in the search field. We need to cut down on the amount of repetitive threads on CL because it only makes it that much harder to find information when one needs it.

What I Did
I posted the following on another Lexus site months ago:
"I searched this subject and did not find a discussion about this.
I have a 1992 Lexus SC400 and I ordered a set of A/C cabin filters. It has been a real problem getting them installed. Yes, the cover et al is just as described, but I was unable to get the two filters to link together when they were placed into the slots provided.
Well, it turns out that even though the slots/area is there for filters, Lexus did not put filters in until 1996 or 1997. The place in our earlier cars is just a 'hair' smaller then required to get both filters in.
I did make it work though. What I did was to shave off the guides on either side of the filters. (Those places that are supposed to link together.) They both are in now and seem to be working just fine."
I do not remember where I got the filters from, but if you get the standard ones, you will have to modify them.

Don't waste your time trying to fabricate home depot filters- it won't work...
As usual, Peter Scott does good work, but for those that need to cut down the stock filters to make them fit, you are better off following Dennis' (VSsc400) instructions on this thread:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/maintenance/43531-a-c-filter-sc300-sc400.html
And Mike is 100% right. All these repeat posts are pretty lame.
