Pic of my engine
I spent a little time over the weekend pulling some of the black plastic out ot the engine bay. I found a metallic blue and a silver high heat resitant paint. Clean it up real good. 2 coats of primer. 3 coats of blue. On the lettering on the head on the driver side I taped it off and cut out the letters with an exacto knife. The letters got 3 coats of silver. Then 3 coats of heat resistant clear coat. i like it.
This is only the begining. There will be much more polishing and painting. I'm going to put in silver colored silicon hoses as well. I just wanted some opinions.
I know this is not going to be for everyone. Just let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Here's a pic of the letters. The blue is a very even color all the way down. Digital camera didn't like it and shows it darker then lighter.

First the primer went on. Then 3 coats of blue paint. Then we taped off the whole peice with masking tape (make sure it is totally dry first. If it's even a little tacky, the blue paint will come off when you take off the tape. I found out the hard way. ) After taping, take an exacto knife and and carefully cut the letters out. Took my wife about 30 minutes. She's better at the small tedious stuff than I am. Then a couple coats of silver paint over that. Only the letters will get the silver paint and the rest will be blue. When the silver is dry take off the masking tape and there you go. Then 3 coats of clear.

In my opinion I think the blue makes the engine look a bit cheesy. Its not my thing. If I were to choose a colour I would go with silver possibly?
But props to the great paintwork, looks like a lot of time and effort went into that. The lettering job was great!
***Edit To the right of the engine fan, what is that steel hose thingy? I don't think I have that. This is an sc400?

another easy way to paint the letters is to rub something like vaseline around the letters (not in them) then mask off about an inch back from them. you can shoot it whatever color you want them, then just rub the vaseline off and the overspray goes with it.

It was from a braided steel kit. The peice was a little big so we did some stretching and it fit pretty well. I've got some more of the kit left and I'm still trying to figure out what to use it on and what to totally replace.
Like I said in the opening, this will not be for everyone but I appreciate everyones compliments.
I wish I'd known about the vaseline trick when I started. would have saved me some time and headaches.

not my cup of tea. the first time i saw this type of engine dressing up, was at some car show back in 1995 on some honda civic
i just think its fugly. sorry to say tho.
this is almost as bad as cars havint their interior parts painted. ie: vents, speaker covers, etc.
