It's a nice SC but too expensive for me. Maybe if it were a different color.

You know something that seems even more rare a sight than that? A Lexus with a stick, that’s what. If you were to creep on all the Lexus’ in any given parking lot I bet you’d not find a single one, resulting in the opinion that the brand makes nothing at all but girls.
That's ironic, considering what many refer to the A/T shifter as.

the color combo can really make or brake them for resale, the most important would be tasteful mods, other then that a all stock sc is dated with stock wheels and tan interior

Yeah I think if it was black on black it would have much higher odds.

Does that mean my black on black 97 5speed (1 of 120) 2jzgte 6 speed will sell well once I am tired of it ? It should not sell less than $20k then ...

that's the lowest I'll go on mine if I sell it so most likely you will for sure get it.

Nice car. I don't mind the exterior color or the tan interior but of course a black interior is going to value for more. How rare are the original 97 5-speeds at this point?

Unless they have met with better than average luck, there ought to be less than 100 still on the road.

This article is pretty pointless. No where do they mention the fact that it is a 1 of 120 vehicle, which is likely why the price is where its at. Most likely because they don't know. They don't seem to know much at all about the SC platform, other than some engine specs that can be found in 30 seconds with 1 google search. Neither do all of the people that commented on the article, which explains the poll results..

If you don't mind flying you can pick up this white one with a 1jz already in it for $6,500 out here in California. Use the extra money to fly out and drive back and still save money.

**** NO OUTSIDE FS Site LINKS PLEASE ***

They didn't get the right guy to write it, they got a dude that works for them that owns 2 SC's and from listening a podcast he seems very educated on the workings of the car. Then again, the point isn't to convince people that it's a good value, it's to find out their opinion. I doubt telling the reader that it's 1/120 would have made the purchase justified for them anyway, most people aren't as enamoured with the SC as we are here.

^^^ This

People see the SCs left and right at ridiculuously give away prices so a 1 of 120 isn't different to them. 95% of people choose a car based on looks. It is still a very common old car for many. They know for that price they can get a newer better good looking car whose maintance is not that expensive. So surely , majority will tag it as a car with a crack price tag.

well your 6 speed 2jzgte swap alone with diff / driveshaft / harness gets you already to around $15k which many probably do not even realize. All they see is it is an old common car that is why it is hard to get the prices of our SCs up there . NOBODY is simply willing to pay high for them just like the MKIVs.

I know .. some local guys also now regret not having swoop it when I was selling it as a shell. That time I wasn't crazy about it since I had three 2jzgte SCs already.

If I end up installing all what I have gathered so far to make it a 1500rwhp capable car , for which at this point all I literally need are the Winberg 3.4L crank and CP 3.4L pistons , it will be harder for me to let go of it . Have gathered everything ..... turbo system, exhaust system, fuel system , ignition system, cooling system, block (rods, billet mains, arp hardware) and head (all ferrea) with all new internals except those two parts. Well also thinking of probably trying MOTEC this time since their prices are not that far from the ProEFI anymore.

While it is still stock 2jzgte 6speed , anything still can happen cause I couldn't imagine rather it will be harder for me to let go any of my 4 built 6speed MKIVs at this point .
