It looks great, GISguy! Next test run (if there is one) it would be perfect with the bottom thickness added into the CAD but you're holding in your hand a great result! And it even uses those factory clips!

But seems like an awful amount of work for something you can get used oem for $10

Would be alot more useful on parts you can no longer buy, or like someone already mentioned, on parts that are prone to cracking/damage the way the factory made them.

I agree with you both on each point. Certainly it would be great in the future (and I'm not only thinking of GISguy since he's taking his own time to create this as a side project) to look at the poorly designed interior pieces that tend to crack and figure out a way to either remake or redesign them.

Also, I am of the mind that while I think the *factory original* cupholder hits all the marks from a purely visual aesthetic, its placement is less than ideal from a functional standpoint. I'd love to see some ideas tried to add a gauge or controller slot of some kind to that area.

I think this was a very easy part to mock up in the 3D CAD program to run off as a first test. I like what he's done and if he's so inclined I'd like to see what else GISguy wants to pursue with this or another part.

The transmission tunnels get quite hot in these cars, wont such temperatures weaken this type of plastic??

I think that varies by vehicle. (Seems to be mostly M/T swaps.) My transmission tunnel doesn't get even remotely warm.

the plastic is most likely PLA which has a melting point of about 300 F, if your tunnel is that hot, you got a problem.

Oh yeah so quite a decent temperature threshold.
