yeah I think I will do that, small movements on the steering wheel turn the car, so I would think that even a small movement on the rack would not be good at all.

I did. They have poly bushings that I installed not 2 months ago.

he means the aluminum ones not the poly ones. I have the poly one mine also and it still acts funny from time to time.

Just had someone else turn while I looked. It's moving quite a bit. :\ I think it's the clamp-shaped bushing that's too loose. I can't imagine how the other two would allow for any lateral motion, even if they were loose.

~60 ft/lbs for each, right?

yeah mine was the same way I have noticed it after changing out those bushings. the c clip one does not seem to be nearly as good as the oem one and allows for movement. I thought the small ones that get bolted down would still hold the rack in place like you are thinking also, but being poly I now think the movement we are seeing is the give in those poly bushings. I am ordering aluminum after watching your video it only confirmed what I suspected.

Correct.

I recommend the solid aluminum ones for the rack.

UPDATE:

I went under today, and for some reason...the three bolts were only tightened to around 20 ft-lbs. Factory spec is ~60.

By Ali's recommendation against the poly clamp bushing, I replaced it with the OEM rubber one, and then re-torqued everything to spec, and.....voila. No more rack movement.

Except now I need another front alignment because my last one was with the loose bolts
I can't believe I missed that- I could've sworn I torqued them to spec. Either way, they are now!
