SC300 owners: Do you change your oil filter from top or bottom of engine? (Poll)
Hello guys, I am just curious how many of you SC300 owners remove your oil filters from the top of the engine and how many of you remove the oil filters from the bottom?
I personally change my filter from the top of the engine because I think it's easier that way since the oil filter is located on the upper part of the engine. If you change your filter from the bottom, please state why you do it this way? I am just curious...

No reason to go from below. Can get a nice grip on it with my palm from above and just twist it out, I bought a fancy strap wrench for oil changes 4 or 5 years ago, but It never quite grips right. I'd rather let the car cool down like 20 minutes and just twist it out by hand.

i have always changed side mount filters when the engine is cold.when cold the filter doesnt leak a drop of oil.been doing this for 40 years,my 86 mr2 is the same way.
i agree ,no need to remove it from the bottom.

Its almost impossible to get it from the top if you have a FFIM / GTE engine. I have given up trying to use my hands from the bottom, now I just put a filter removal tool on a long extension rachet and use that
