Advancing base timing on sc400/1uz
I have been curious about trying to advance the base timing on my sc400. I've done a ton of research and can't seem to find any threads or information on how to do this properly. I know the cause/effect on doing this and I know there is a crank position sensor on the front next to the crank pulley is that were I would attempt this? I only want to advance it several degrees and I always run 93 octane. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Timing= power. Of course it'll be minor considering the application. But higher octane fuel and/or methanol allows more power because more aggressive timing is able to be used.

Yes, I know it equates to more power, but it's not a substantial enough gain to mess with. Majority of turboed 2J motors I've seen still run on factory base timing, even cam gears are still set to factory specs. I would consider other mods prior to worrying about timing to make power.

The ECU controls the timing on these cars, doesn't it? I think you have to go standalone, or possibly a piggyback.
As for the earlier comment about why advance timing because boosted JZs don't, well, you usually (in my experience) retard timing under boost to avoid detonation. If stock timing is okay for the particular engine under boost, you probably wouldn't want to advance it. Apples and oranges.
