Advancing base timing on sc400/1uz
I have been curious about trying to advance the base timing on my sc400. I've done a ton of research and can't seem to find any threads or information on how to do this properly. I know the cause/effect on doing this and I know there is a crank position sensor on the front next to the crank pulley is that were I would attempt this? I only want to advance it several degrees and I always run 93 octane. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Why do you want to advance base timing?
|
Timing= power. Of course it'll be minor considering the application. But higher octane fuel and/or methanol allows more power because more aggressive timing is able to be used.
|
Yes, I know it equates to more power, but it's not a substantial enough gain to mess with. Majority of turboed 2J motors I've seen still run on factory base timing, even cam gears are still set to factory specs. I would consider other mods prior to worrying about timing to make power.

I have a 400. Mods are limited. Advancing the timing is free. Other than Intake, exhaust and nitrous there aren't too many others that are cost/time efficient.

Noone has a solid answer on this ?
|
Boost it lol

^^^^ im with this guy i youtube'd turbo'd sc400's and they look pretty sweet
|
Already did the gte single turbo game once. I'd like to keep it na and go VIP with it. People really don't mod these 1uz's. It's so hard to find good info.
|
might check over at lextreme, lotta good uz info.
http://www.lextreme.com/forums/index.php it's alot slower over there, but it's jammed packed with modification/maintenance/troubleshooting stuff. |
WHAT PLANET ARE U ON. People are modding uz's like never before
|
Nodding us? What are you referring to? And thanks for the info.

what the **** is wrong what you stupid jerk offs
The guy asked a very simple ****ing question how to advance timing He didn't ask you how to make power he didn't ask you to ask him why If you don't know the ****ing answer the question shut the **** up and go bother somebody else ****ing retards Everybody's always in everybody's ****ing business You could do whatever the **** you want to your car

The ECU controls the timing on these cars, doesn't it? I think you have to go standalone, or possibly a piggyback.
As for the earlier comment about why advance timing because boosted JZs don't, well, you usually (in my experience) retard timing under boost to avoid detonation. If stock timing is okay for the particular engine under boost, you probably wouldn't want to advance it. Apples and oranges. |
