technically it should , but that all depends on how crooked your mechanic is , and how gullable you are, im sure people here have been suckered out of way more then that.
A reliable shop would change a dead motor out for about that much or even less. At least the shop I take my SC to when I don't feel like doing the works.

Yea, **** shops, back when i had my '02 Mustang GT, the 3rd gear started grinding/popping out and every shop wanted almost $4k to replace the trans....I ended up buying a used trans for $800 and did the swap on jack stands in my drive way in under 4 hours.

agreed man and good job, thankfully I do have a trusted mechanic but without him i dont know what id do, some of them are such liars and con artists its sickening.
