Sunroof replacement
Hi. Im new to the forum but been a lurker for some time. Ive done some searching around for my sunroof issue but didnt find a whole lot of info. My 93 sc400 has a cracked sunroof. My dad bought a 92 sc400 about four months ago and then totaled it two months later. He did a 360 into a rock wall on the interstate. Luckily he was ok, the car not so much. Amazingly the engine will still start up even though its sitting in the engine bay sideways. Really hard to kill these cars. So ive been pulling parts off it his to put on mine. Free parts! His sunroof survived the crash and I want to do a transplant. Im just looking for some clear instructions on removal. One thread I saw said I have to take off the two plastic trim pieces on the sides but when I attempted it they really didnt come loose and the entire glass moved. Call me careful, I just dont want to break anything especially if I really need the part.

Its the trim pieces on the drive and passenger side that you will remove.. I used a razor to get in there but a thin flat head is safer after the 2 trim pieces are popped off it's just 6 bolts to get the glass of. make sure you remember how the glass spacers are positioned so your sunroof will be aligned with the roof of the car nice and flush

Remove the front and rear upper trims (pillars with handles and rear window trims) you'll see screws for the headliner, remove them including the one in the dome light. You then will see screws necessary to disassemble the sunroof.
PS: When you remove those rear window trims, the screws will strip with a normal screw driver, use a pair of needle nose lockjaw pliers to get them loose then remove them from behind the handles with a screw driver.
Edit: Here is the sunroof diagram

I removed my sunroof to conv. to a hardtop. The glass is encased in a fiberglass/plastic housing that is pop-riveted together and should prob. be changed out as a unit. Ive got a good one for$150.00 & shipping.
