2jz GE vs GTE
Alright, so here it goes,
Budget build.
Not looking for a lot of power just looking for some fun and a some reliability.
when it comes down to it.
are most of the components swappable?
like the intake manifold? exhaust manifold?
Im looking to do a NA-T build. just wondering how reliable is your setup.
I was looking up to use a GTE intake manifold and single turbo GT2860rs for quick spool.
let me know your thoughts.
reliability, price, funnest?
GO!

The difference between knowing this answer and not knowing it as a search or clicking that link. You can have both GE and GTE be reliable but what transmission are you on? what goals do you have for the car? what is your budget? time frame you have to do the work? how much PSI are you going to run?

1jzgte is the soarer engine. 2jzgte only came in supras & aristos.
basically, n/a-t guys stand by being n/a-t and gte guys stand by having a gte.... its all up to you. they are both great options, you wont be disappointed either way. if i would have gotten a sc300 instead of a 400 i would've went na-t with a r154 and a small-mid size turbo with a single disc clutch.
imo i like n/a-t. you already got the motor and you dont have to get rid of it... but it does involve more work

When I get the cash I'm going na/t with the ge motor. After much research here and elsewhere I feel the gte swap is not economical if power is the goal and not running a certain type of engine. By the time you spend all of the money to buy and install the gte motor you have about 100 hp over stock. The same amount spent on upgrades to the ge motor would get you at least 350 hp if not 400+ hp. I just don't see the gte swap as viable for the truly budget conscious unless you just have to have a gte.
