Immediately most people would say too much work, so with under consideration, I've done stuff like this in the past and had years of great driving without problems as a result.

Couple things first.

1) No option of converting to manual. Its not an option, granted I could no doubt pull off the swap just as easy as what I'm asking about.

2) I wont sell this car and screw somebody over. Not my style.

Ok, so having said that, I dig the forums here, and the wealth of information available to me since pretty much everything that could be done to the SC has already been covered here. Kick *** to be here! Now the quick and dirty...

I picked up an SC400 with 245K on it, and the first impression it made on me was not great. I put it into drive facing up a hill, and took my foot off the brake pedal, and it rolled back a good 5 feet before I hit the brake again. I had to pull the ebrake, and wait for it to clunk into gear before I even got to move.

Same thing in reverse. 2nd gear is toast, and it revs up to 3K before finally dropping into 3rd, at which point it pulls perfectly. Freeway driving is great, as far as the engine /tranny go. Here's the question:

I'm buying an SC300 parts car. Good engine/tranny/interior and the passenger side of the car is in good condition, which my SC400 is not. SHOULD I FRANKENSTEIN THIS CAR? seriously, for the money I'll be into the car and parts car, 1600 bucks, I could have a less gas guzzling motor, good tranny, great interior, and fix the exterior (door, fender, headlight).

Kinda sounds good for a days worth of swapping from one car to the other.

i would say take a poll on gas mileage a number of guys with the 1uz are getting the same type of gas mileage as a 300 i own a 400 and i can say it gets almost the same gas mileage as my 07 max which has a 3.5vq in it average about 21 mpg around town.....but if it is a most i guess you gotta do wht you gotta do....

what's wrong with the sc3? if it's in better shape, just fix what's wrong with it, and call it a done deal.
and 1600, imo, isn't a good deal for a "parts" car, unless it's a 97+

I'm in it for 1600 with both the SC4 and the SC3. Its not just a thing about gas either, my friend told me yesterday I can basically have an Aristo 2JZ he's been storing.

So if I drop in the auto and 2JZ-GE that come with the parts car, I could always make the swap to the JDM motor when I'm good and ready, and meanwhile have a well running automatic unlike what I have now. I think 1600 for a clean car with a good motor and trans with nice interior is something I could either make money on selling, or enjoy driving.

I'm just curious what major hurdles I'll face in swapping everything from one car to the next. The great thing about swapping the motor, is that I'll swap in the same gauges from the donor car, and they'll still be accurate in my SC4 once everything is done.
