Tein HA CoilOver Shocks&Springs
Guys:
I have been doing some reading about the Tein HA Coilover suspension units. These appear to be high quality shocks that have the springs as an integral part of the shock.
They allow you to adjust the shock setting to any one of 16 settings. They also allow you to adjust the height of you car ie: raise or lower it.
What is not clear to me is the following... I would assume that the stock coil springs are totally replaced by these? In other words you remove the factory springs totally, yes?
I also have not done any true research as to exact fit for the SC 400 or 300. If anyone has these installed and you know the Tein part number for the SC400, please let us know what it is.
These may be the way to go if you need to replace your current shocks AND want to lower the car.
If you have any input on these Tein shocks or perhaps other brands that may have similar functionality, please let us know.
Here is a review of them, sadly the gent who wrote it did not indicate which Lexus he had them installed upon....

The Tein coilovers replace the shock and springs from your car.
Ive only heard good things about them, except some of the more expensive ones made of aluminum I believe may not be strong enough for street use.
I believe in the Tuner G-Force shootout thing the top handling car, the black RX7, had Teins.

Just found the offical Tein homepage which is in Japan.
They do not list the Soarer or SC in their application list.
I wonder if this list is comprehensive or if we are to use the Toyota Supra model number? Any ideas on this...
Here is their URL....

I have them on my car
I have tein ha's on my car.
Cost was 1200 dollars installed.
I have the front lowered 2 inches...1 1/2 inch in the back.
10 clicks stiffness on the fronts...8 clicks in the rear
Adds a GREAT aggressive look to your SC
Handles better than a stock 540isport and rivals M5 handling.
Only bad part is that it is a MUCH rougher ride than stock..hands down.

Thanks for that info. What exact Tein Part number did you install? I do not see the SC400 (1993) listed on their official website. If you can find out which Tein part or set number you are running, it would be greatly appreciated amigo.
Your settings are really on the firm side based on the product test that was posted here on ClubLexus. What range of lowering did you have available to you? That is not mentioned in the Tein website.

Well..to Max and others.
I don't remember the part number, but I'll contact my supplier and find out.
YOu could lower the clicks much more, but the stiffness is pretty much just how it is.
These are NOT gas shocks so there isn't much give.
So even at the lowest setting, you still get a stiff bump from hills and valleys on the road and every nook and cranny.
So instead of putting at the lowest setting to give it a softer feel, (which basically makes it rough and then SOFTEN the cornering, which defeats the purpose of having TEINS), I put it at the mid setting, to get the cornering that I like, w/a tolerable amount of bumps for me.

You can use a set of 93~up Supra coilovers for our cars. Same suspension componets. Just find the ones listed for the Supra, and you're good.
Also, the front A-arms from the supra enhance braking a *lot*. The ones that come on the SC have soft rubber bushings built in, for the cushiony brake feel (when you hit the brakes...car dives a lot...not just from the shocks). The ones on the Supra have hard poly bushings built in, and the parts are the exact same size (swappable).
That will save a lot of wear-n-tear on the front tires....do to less toe-in when braking hard.

Max,
Actually some larger bumps are very teeth shattering.
There is NO give w/these shocks. At the higher settings,
your care won't BUDGE cornering, and you'll get a screetch from tires.
So the Supra A arms are transferrable? I want to get those.
Where can I get them?
