2014 RX350 interior road noise
I am on my third RX now with my 2014 RX350. Previous to this car I had a 2007 RX400H which I loved. I find this new car much noisier when on pavement than my RX400H. Has anyone noticed the interior noise on the 2014 to be quite loud. I compared to my wifes Mercedes ML350 also a 2014 too and it's much louder. Wondering if Lexus cheapened this car or what. I am really annoyed by it and was wondering if anyone else noticed this?
TIA

Yes, I reported back in 2012 when I took first delivery of my "first-off-the-line" 2013 RX450h, that IMHO it seemed a bit nosier inside than my former 2006 RX400h. Others in the past have agreed, although it's a subjective point that causes much discussion since most of us don't have measurement gear and proper test environments to prove it. I agree tires can make a difference in both the ride and noise level. While my present RX seems a bit louder inside, even with my Bridgestones that came on it, I don't personally find it that bad, as my Lexus is certainly far superior to many other rides I've been in since. We'll have to see how the 2016 4th Gen ends-up stacking up.

For others seeking more specifics: Do a couple searches to find other threads in this forum on "road noise, tires, etc", including intermittent discussion on the same subjects across various posts in our 3rd Gen TIRE THREAD STICKY.

I have Dunlop tires on my new 2015 RX 350 and yes they are noisy, very much so on rougher asphalt pavement. However the ride is fine. I don't detect any harshness as some have mentioned.

I have Bridgestone tires on mine and it seems a bit louder than my previous RX; although I think I'm now either used to the extra noise or it's quieter than when it was new. Not sure.
On my last RX (2002), I put Michelin tires on it about a year before I got rid of it, and I thought it ended up being noisier than before I had Michelins.
So...maybe it's just new tires in general? I don't know.
Lexus114: can you tell me what Michelin tires you have on your car? I'm sure i'll be putting Michelins on them in the future and would like to know the "model" .
thanks.

I think my 2nd gen RX (04) and the 2013 have about the same noise level. I would be hard pressed to tell a difference - both with Michelins. I thought it was really quiet (compared to a Prius) but then we traded our daily driver for a Lexus ES and now the RX seems a bit noisy. I have always said that it depends on our basis for comparison as well as our personal expectations. Bottom line: no complaints here.

Yes I have the OEM Dunlops that came on my 2014 RX350. I suppose I will have to wait until they wear out to find out on the noise level. I had several different branded tires on my 2007 and none of them caused any noise problem.
I would have thought Lexus would check the noise level of OEM tires prior to using them. After all though the ride is fine being quiet is supposed to be a Lexus Hallmark. Bummed.
