How do you remove the front dome light panel?
Folks,
I studied various email threads about replacing the internal light bulbs with led by the helpful folks here and I was able to replace all but the front dome light (not yet attempted rear dome). When I tried removing the front dome panel using a credit card I couldn't insert it. On the side toward the sunroof there is enough room to insert the credit card but it has only one tab. The other sides are so tight that I couldn't get the credit card in. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

No, I don't play soccer!
Maybe the credit card is too thick or not flexible enough. Try a discount card from a supermarket. It took a few before I found the right one but it worked on all the lights except the rear dome. There were two tabs on the sides of the front dome cover. I slid the card along the length and it came off. Here's a picture of the cover from my '10 so you have a better idea of the location of the tabs.

The bulbs are easily removable after you removed just the dome cover. I guess they can be removed the way you suggested but that would also remove the bulb holder as well.
Finally did it last night. Took me about five minutes to wiggle a very thin hotel card around. The trick is to insert the card at the side facing the front windshield to pop the tree tabs, then angle the card so it pressures the dome light cover down and out of its place. Then you can remove the cover without clearing the other tabs.
Don't start with the side facing the sunroof as there is a big tab holding the dome cover in place.
Now to the next challenge, rear dome. I'm glad that another member found an easier way by removing the entire dome and not the light cover.
