High Trans Fluid Temp
I am getting a service engine message that goes off when I am driving for 45 minutes or more at highway speeds. Immediately when I slow down on a ramp, the light goes off and doesn't come back on until I am driving again for 45 minutes or more at highway speeds.
When I took it to the dealer, he wanted to change the oil control valve for $900.00 and said that might fix something.
Has anyone had this message? Any suggestions?

you must be out of warranty. Get a second opinion from another Lexus or Toyota dealer or a qualified independent mechanic. There should be stored codes they can download. This should not involve guessing.

I am almost sure the dealer would have checked for the air flow in the front for the cooler. But for others who experience this problem should check for leaves, plastic-bags etc blocking the air flow.

Pretordr, you are never going to get a response to a 5 year old post by someone who has only posted here one time.
If you have this problem, do as Salim states above and have it evaluated by a dealer or transmission shop.
How did you determine it was caused by high trans fluid temp? Did your main temp gauge also read any higher than normal?
Does it have any shifting issues? How many miles are on your RX and has the transmission fluid ever been changed?
