iPhone Users: SMS message display with RX w/ nav?
Hello, all,
Have any of you iPhone 5 users been able to pair your phones to allow for text messages to be displayed on the nav screen? I recall from a previous thread that you can display the text messages, but cannot reply with the current iOS. How did you set your phone up to display the texts? Thanks for your help!

Okay, gang, I was able to easily set up the phone to read my text messages, but now I can't figure out how to delete them from the screen after I've read them. Can someone give me a quick tip on how to do that? I tried deleting them from the phone directly but that didn't take them off of my nav screen. Thanks!

It's iOS 6.1 that they refer to. Supposedly the beta version went out mid-December, so the thinking is that the update will be out this month. That allegedly will allow the ability to reply to the texts received via bluetooth.

have you paired the phone with your car yet?
after that go to settings, bluetooth, turn on bluetooth, next under devices car multimedia and click on arrow, then turn on notifications
now when you get a text it should show on your navigation screen.
this worked for me,
I still have a problem with the audio sometimes going to the car speakers and somtimes going to the phone speaker.
good luck

OK - so I should have added this is an Australian vehicle, and as far as I can tell the menus are progressing differently to what your saying. I will look at the US manual and compare - might be a feature that has been locked out over here. Nanny state and all..
Thanks for the reply

I have a '12 RX with nav. iPhone 5 with iOS 6.02. When I go into Bluetooth setting for my Lexus (car multimedia) and hit the little blue arrow, all I get in "Forget this device." I do not see anything about notifications. I would love to enable this - any thoughts? Is it only on the '13's?

@dougef:
If I'm reading the Lexus website correctly (ie, Bluetooth compatibility charts), the 2012 RX models do not support text messaging. It may apply only to 2013 models. That may be why you're not seeing the notifications option on your iPhone.
