Complimentary 5,000 Service
Sorry if this was posted before, but just checking to see if I understand.
On the first 5,000 mile complimentary check, the engine oil/filter under normal driving conditions is NOT replaced.
On the 10,000 mile complimentary check, the oil/filter is replaced under normal driving conditions.
So under average driving conditions, Lexus oil/filter changes should be every 10,000 or 12 months which ever comes first correct?

Yes.
Yes. As long as you use the 0W-20 synthetic oil. If you do not then the oil change should occur at 5K miles.
See this pdf for more details: http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/RX_RXh_WSG.pdf

If you transition to conventional motor oil are you ableto eventually go back to synthetic? Looks like my previous owner had a change at 3,000 miles and used conventional...I'd like synthetic. Thoughts?

Yes. My dealer also told me the tech will also sit with me and go through all the personal settings and make certain I am comfortable navigating around them. There are also some setting which mayb require the tech to do since apparently there is a 'super secret' settings menu they can access.

Hmmmmmm So I'm thinking if I operated under "special operating conditions (severe)", would the dealer change my oil/filter @ both 5,000 and 10,000 mile complimentary?
Also a side note:
I like the idea of using synthetic oil, and seems the general car manufactures are pushing more and more to use it,
BUT
I'm not a big fan on using it just to push the the longer recommended oil interval changes, watch seems to be what Lexus is doing here.

If you have a Hybrid it states you MUST use full synthetic as they want some lubrication to remain in the motor for the frequent start and stop of the ICE.
