Side mirrors in the rain?
We FINALLY have rain and I'm thrilled. We desperately need it. However, was just driving (very heavy mist at the moment) and realized that I cannot see out of my side mirrors due to rain/mist/water buildup on them. Anyone else notice this? And what would be a good solution?

RainX or Stoners glass solution works very well at making the water bead up. The drops get too heavy and fall down. Remember what Bill Nye says: Gravity is not just a good idea, its the LAW!
I use it on my headlights as well as side windows. I am not big on it on the windshield strangely enough.

Try turning on the rear window defogger. It heats the side mirrors as well and will help dry up the mist. It works well.
I just put Rain X on the windshield. I have never used it before so I am hoping that it works well. If not, how do I get it off or how long will it last?

As long as it's not streaky then you'll like it. It's life expectancy depends on the environment. On other vehicles I would apply it every 4-6 weeks.

I noticed in my 2012 RX450 that rain drops now block the rearview backup camera? WTF? My 2004 lexus never had a problem with rain drops on the camera... so why would the newer model? seems like an oversight to me...

Yeah. The airfoil going over the car as well as, for whatever reason, the way rain runs down the back seems to block some of the camera. Kind of a PITA

my 2004 had the camera blocked by rain as well so this is not a new problem for me.
the 2010+ RX has water repellent front side windows and I agree with above to turn on the defroster. It gets pretty hot and its enough to dry water

The instructions say not to use it on plastic. I know of some motorcylce riders who tried it on their plastic windshields and it hazed them. Guess whatever chemicals are in it aren't good on that material. So is there a plastic cover on the camera lens or is it exposed directly to the elements?
