Having owned a 2010 and a 2011 RX 350
Got the call yesterday from the local dealer, we can save you over $100 on your lease payment and put you in a 2011. Once I got past the "OK, what is the catch," I understood the cost of money made this "come on" real.
We got our 2010 AWD in March, 2009, so I've had plenty of time to understand it's strengths and the minor shortcomings. I've always understood that you shouldn't buy a car (even a Lexus) in the first model year. However, my wife fell in love the Matador Red/Black combination and there was no way to say "no." Previously We had a 2008 350, so just a quick drive, I quickly learned why the 2010 was a quantum leap on the evolutionary scale for the RX.
All the small and subtle changes from 2010 to 2011 have been well documented on this forum, however, after a day of driving, I'm so impressed with the small tweaks in the 2011. Sure there is really nothing visible - however, to me, the extra soundproofing, dampening and smooth handling are a major improvement. Of course, I realize that a 2-year old car starts to show its age (even in small ways). I have to say that the engineers at Lexus have even pushed an excellent vehicle into the near perfect realm (for what it is).
Many thanks to this forum as I learned so much about firmware (and what a difference it makes!). For me, the early 2010 didn't quite match the promise on the bluetooth/hands free/voice control elements. IN fact, after several trips to the local dealer's "digital" guru, we just gave up and never used those features. However on the 2011, they all worked as promised right out of the box. I'm talking iphone/ipod compatability, all functions working perfectly with just a "pair."
That blew me away and I'm a skeptic!
I will post the financial dealings under the Lease numbers soon.
Thanks to this forum for all the great data!
